Pros of Marijuana

What is usually the first thing that comes to most peoples’ minds when they hear the word “marijuana”? Probably the first thought is either the late 1960″s or early 1970’s or maybe the thought of someone who is swaying back and forth because they are experiencing an extreme “high” from smoking too much of the substance at one time. Would it surprise you that there are pros of marijuana when the proper dosage is used?

It would probably shock many people to know that there are actually pros of marijuana when used for medical applications. The thought of marijuana providing a positive benefit may sound contradictory due to the bad rap that marijuana has received over the years. Since three very powerful components of marijuana was discovered, there have been numerous studies and experiments on the effects that marijuana, used in a positive and controlled manner, can provide. {{{o}}} The components are the CBD or Cannabidiol, the delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, and 8-caryophyllene.

The studies that have been done have been done not only by the United States but by other countries as well, such as Columbia and the United Kingdom. The researchers are fascinated by this plant and the medical benefits it offers to people who have medical conditions that modern medicine is usually prescribed for to reduce a variety of symptoms. There are many medical conditions that result in certain side effects of which modern medicine can relieve, but in turn, gives its own terrible side effects which are often worse than those of the medical condition itself.

You are still wondering what the possible pros of marijuana are; the benefits that have been researched time and time again to restate the positive attributes from the prior study. The positive benefits range from reducing to stopping various medical conditions or symptoms that a person can have. Under medical supervision and direction, using the appropriate dosage for an appropriate period of time can reduce a multitude of medical issues such as nausea, vomiting, spasms, anxiety, chronic pain, and even reverse the loss of appetite.

Centuries ago, marijuana was used for relief of various aches and pains such as migraines, cramps and chronic pain. In addition, marijuana was used in many different cultures for similar medical reasons but over time and with the invention of modern medicine marijuana has gotten a bad rap and taken the back seat so to speak. Since the discovery made in the early 1970’s of the three compounds noted previously, researchers have reported over and over that the benefits of marijuana in medical applications is successful for various side effects from AIDS, cancer, glaucoma, depression and even asthma.

If you or someone you know has a medical condition that the prescribed medication isn’t working anymore or even causes worse side effects than the medical condition itself, ask your doctor if maybe the benefits of marijuana can help you too. The pros of marijuana definitely outweigh the cons but remember that marijuana is illegal is most places but is, under strict guidelines and regulations, can be used for medical reasons.
